Miranda Tan, CEO of MyPRGenie, has been selected for a unique presentation on the cloud-based public relations and social media management platform she founded.
The presentation is part of the New York Angels start-up company screening to be held at NYU during the Entrepreneurs Festival on Saturday, November 3. It’s an unusual presentation because she’ll be presenting both to potential investors in her business as well as an audience of NYU students.
“Making presentations to potential investors is a frequent part of my job,” Tan said. “But it’s rare to have the chance to do it in front of a larger audience that includes the entrepreneurs of tomorrow, and I’m honored to have been selected for this event.”
A popular speaker who always packs clear, succinct advice into a short presentation (check out her videos on YouTube or this blog for an example), Miranda Tan is passionate about helping small companies promote themselves using the power of PR and social media. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, and a JD from St. John’s University School of Law, and founded MyPRGenie in 2007 after a 10-year career in public relations, marketing, and technology.
Tan has over 10 years experience in PR and marketing. Prior to MyPRGenie, Tan was the president of Excite Media Group, where she specialized in PR and marketing for start-ups and fast growth companies including McKinsey & Company, National Imaging Associates (acquired by Wellpoint), MindTree Consulting, Cognizant Technology Solutions, NYU, Opinion Research Corp and Peoplesoft (acquired by Oracle). Prior to Excite Media Group, Tan founded ExcitePR, a $2 MM hi-tech PR agency. Tan merged ExcitePR with a $15M PR and marketing firm in Silicon Valley.
